Birutjatio Sahitya Sammiloni is a Non-profit Organization (S/2 L No 7523 of 2013-14) based in Santiniketan. It was started as an amateur Bangla literary group in 2007. It tried to recreate a space where the group of friends who had developed a bond through their creativity at school, could meet again. Some were studying Literature, some Science, and this group provided a common umbrella. Then in the Nababarsha of 1415(April 2008) the group got its name and published the first collection using an inkjet printer at home. Overtime it has grown into a non-profit society with the goals of fusing environmental sustainability with creative endeavors . It wishes to work in the following areas-
ii. The Society would translate major works in other languages which have not-been translated in to Bengali, and also translate major Bengali books into other languages. The Society may also occasionally publish original works in English.
iii. The Society would seek to promote talented young authors and translators.
iv. The Society would seek to promote talented young Musicians, Actors, Painters, Photographers and Filmmakers.
v. The Society will have a quarterly print magazine and an annual web magazine.
vi. The Society will create Websites for Bangla Literature and try and gradually bring all Bengali Literature which is in the Public Domain (i.e. non-copyrighted) on to the World Wide Web.
vii. The Society, will organize reading sessions, Sahitya Sabhas, Seminars, Exhibitions, film shows, Theatre Performances and conferences to promote exchange and meaningful dialogue on literature.
ii. The Society seeks to promote paper and cloth Bags as a cleaner alternative to plastic. It would try and mass produce paper and cloth bags by organizing workshops.
iii. The Society would look at recycling the plastic already in circulation besides trying to reduce the use of plastic to the minimal level.
iv. The Society, will organize reading sessions, Literary Meetings (Sahitya Sabha), Seminars, Exhibitions, Film Shows and Conferences to promote exchange and meaningful dialogue on the environment.
